"half life" è un album per pianoforte solo che esplora il pieno potenziale dello strumento. Ispirati dalla maternità, dalla nostalgia e dal passare del tempo, questi dodici pezzi cinematografici sono onirici ma strutturati, incredibilmente moderni ma basati su forme classiche.
L'artista
Catherine Fearns è una compositrice britannica che vive in Svizzera. Lavora come tastierista e chitarrista dell'acclamata band heavy metal tutta al femminile Chaos Rising, inoltre è una cantautrice impegnata nel campo della musica sperimentale. Tuttavia è anche una pianista di formazione classica, affascinata dai legami sorprendentemente stretti tra musica classica e metal. Nell'esplorare questi collegamenti, ha sviluppato uno stile compositivo unico ed emozionante. Catherine è anche una scrittrice pluripremiata e per lei scrivere e comporre fanno parte dello stesso processo narrativo.

"half life" is an album for solo piano that explores the full potential of the instrument. Inspired by motherhood, nostalgia, and the passing of time, these twelve cinematic pieces are dreamlike yet structured, impossibly modern yet based on classical forms.
The Artist
Catherine Fearns is a British composer living in Switzerland. As keyboardist and guitarist for acclaimed all-female heavy metal band Chaos Rising, she is a busy songwriter in the field of extreme music. However she is also a classically-trained pianist, with a fascination for the surprisingly close links between classical and metal music. In exploring these links, she has developed a unique and exciting style of composition. Catherine is also an award-winning novelist, and for her, writing and composing are all part of the same storytelling process.
